Paulding County Court Record Requests
For most Superior and State Court matters, begin with the county Case Search instructions. Type the case number with all dashes. Or search a name as last name, first name. Click the green plus beside any result to see the pleadings. Knowing the filing date and document title up front makes the clerk's job much easier when you ask for a copy.
The counter is another route. Visit Room 1023 at 280 Constitution Boulevard, Dallas, Georgia 30132. Hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Call 770-443-7527 if the file is old or the image is missing. The county publishes no complete mail, fax, or email workflow for certified copies. So confirm delivery and payment steps before you send anything.
- Identify the court, case number, party name, and exact filing needed.
- Search the portal and expand pleadings to capture the document date and title.
- Choose the Paulding County clerk counter, GSCCCA eCertification, or a formal records request.
- Contact the separate Probate, Juvenile, Magistrate, or municipal office when it owns the file.
- Confirm the copy charge and request plain or certified treatment before paying.
- Verify unclear status with the custodian that maintains the original.
Three Paulding County Court Record Forms
Three things get confused constantly: a docket view, a filed document, and a certified copy. The docket view is only an index of metadata, pleadings, events, settings, and outcome labels. The filed document is the actual paper behind an entry, whether a complaint, motion, accusation, return, exhibit, order, or judgment. A certified copy carries the clerk's authentication. Portal image credits may let you view a filing, but they do not certify it.
- Docket or case view
- The Paulding County public chronology and fields used to locate activity.
- Filed document
- The actual Paulding County paper or electronic filing behind an entry.
- Certified copy
- A Paulding County clerk-authenticated reproduction ordered for official use.
This Paulding County distinction prevents a common and costly mistake: paying for an image when the receiving office expects certification. Ask which form is required before you order anything.
Kinds of Paulding County Court Records
Sheila Butler, Clerk of Superior Court and Clerk of State Court, maintains Superior Court civil and criminal files along with State Court civil, criminal, and traffic files. Probate Court holds estate and guardianship matters. Magistrate Court keeps its limited civil and warrant records. Juvenile Court controls delinquency, dependency, and CHINS files. Dallas, Hiram, and Braswell municipal courts each keep their own city matters.
- Docket sheets, case summaries, pleadings lists, and hearing notices
- Complaints, petitions, answers, motions, accusations, and returns
- Signed orders, judgments, dispositions, sentences, and appeal papers
- Public exhibits and attachments that remain with the clerk
- Certified and exemplified copies when the custodian offers them
Transcripts are a separate track. For a Superior Court transcript, start with the assigned court reporter; no general price or turnaround is published. Incident and arrest reports sit with the Sheriff, not the court clerk.
Paulding County Court Records via eCertification
For certified documents, the clerk points customers to GSCCCA eCertification. The Paulding County portal works through a universal account, county selection, and an authentication-code lookup. The county's own page explains the service.

The certification service does not guarantee that every local file is eligible. Follow the prompts, and fall back on the counter when a document is not offered.
Paulding County Court Records: What They Contain
A Superior or State Court view can identify the case number, court, judge, caption, filing date, status, parties, attorneys, dated pleadings, settings, outcome, and document links. Civil rows may label party roles and causes. Criminal records may add counts, offense dates, and bond entries. Remember that a calendar is narrower than the full file.
| Case identifier | A dashed number, such as 21-CR-000001, tied to a court. |
|---|---|
| Caption and roles | The short title plus plaintiff, defendant, petitioner, respondent, State, or attorney roles. |
| Pleadings | A dated list of complaints, petitions, motions, returns, notices, and filings. |
| Settings | Dates and setting types, with later reset or continuance entries. |
| Orders and outcome | Judgments, pleas, dismissals, sentences, or other disposition material. |
| Document access | Links or image-credit controls when offered, subject to restriction. |
The green plus expands the pleadings list, not necessarily every image. The county posts no exact image-credit price or complete public fee panel.
Paulding County Court Records Request Path
When a record is not online, identify its custodian before starting the process. The clerk links to the Paulding Open Records Officer, whose page explains the official request route.

The Paulding County forms ask whether you want inspection or copies. They also ask for a detailed description, timetable, daytime phone, signature, date, printed name, and address. One form states that the officer responds within three business days of legal receipt. Otherwise it supplies a timetable. The first 15 minutes of search, retrieval, redaction, and production labor are free under that general process. Letter or legal copies run $0.10 per page.
Custodian first: A Georgia Open Records Act form does not merge all court records into one office. Name the Paulding County clerk that maintains the requested file.
Paulding County Court Record Copy Fees
The clerk's office-specific notice, effective July 1, 2025, lists $1 per page for standard copies. Certified copies cost $2.50 for the first page. Then add $0.50 for each additional page per unit. A county-wide schedule carries other lines. Plain-copy amounts differ by source, so confirm the amount before paying.
| Paulding record output | Published amount |

| Clerk certified copy | $2.50 first page plus $0.50 each additional |
| County schedule plain copy without assistance | $0.50 per page |

| County schedule certified or exemplified | $2.50 first page plus $0.50 each additional |
| Oversize copy | $2.00 per page |

Older Paulding Court Files
An old file not being online does not mean it was destroyed. Nor does it mean no case existed. Paulding County history includes an 1892 Dallas courthouse, the 1990 George T. Bagby Annex, and the 2008 Watson Government Complex. But the county does not publish which early docket books survived, where microfilm is stored, or a full retention schedule. Ask the clerk to search the archive and quote retrieval and copy charges.
Give the court, the approximate year, party names, case type, and any old number. If the item is testimony rather than a filed paper, ask for the assigned reporter. That keeps an archive search, a transcript order, and a document copy as three separate services.
Access Rules for Court Records
Public access is the default under Uniform Superior Court Rule 21. A judge can still restrict a court record. But that takes a motion, a hearing, and a written order, and sensitive details must be redacted rather than buried. The open-records side works the same way. O.C.G.A. §§ 50-18-70 and 50-18-71 let you ask the agency that holds the file. Any material the office withholds has to come with an exemption spelled out. Keep one thing straight about Paulding County electronic access. A sealed court record stays sealed. No online docket convenience changes that.
Juvenile files follow their own track. The Paulding Juvenile Court page shows the official access process.

The Paulding County request form wants the child's name, birth date, file number, and the documents you need. It also asks your reason, identification, sworn information, and permitted capacity. O.C.G.A. § 15-11-61 can keep a file sealed or require review first. A blank result may just mean the wrong court, spelling, or prefix.
Georgia access rules: Rule 21 governs Superior Court access; juvenile confidentiality and targeted judicial-information restrictions can limit public displays.
Which Paulding Clerk Holds It?
One Paulding County complex holds several clerks, and no single counter serves them all. Butler's office keeps the Superior and State court files. Magistrate Court sits in Room 1109, reachable at 770-443-7533. Probate Court is in Room 2009 at 770-443-7541. Juvenile Court occupies Room 2106, and its number is 770-443-7532. Every Paulding County municipal court keeps its own files on its own terms.
So start from the issuing court printed on the notice, citation, pleading, or docket. A municipal record does not automatically roll into a Paulding County search. The Georgia Judicial Gateway E-Access is just a provider directory with account and coverage limits rather than one statewide public docket. Before asking for a Paulding County copy, check the docket search instructions. They walk through the name and number fields.
